Animals have always been a part of my world—not just as pets, but as healers, companions, and quiet friends who seemed to understand my heart without a single word. Over the years, many found their way into my home because they had nowhere else to go. I welcomed them all, even when it meant stretching myself thin, because turning away simply wasn’t in my nature. But with every new rescue, the same question echoed inside me: Why are so many animals left without the love and care they deserve?
That question lit the spark that would eventually become my book.
I wrote this book for one purpose—to guide children and their parents toward responsible, compassionate pet ownership. I wanted to create something warm, gentle, and inspiring… something that teaches families what pets truly need through storytelling and heart, not lectures. My hope is simple: to reduce the number of animals surrendered or abandoned, and to ensure that those who welcome a pet into their home understand the beautiful lifelong commitment that comes with it.
I wanted to create a book that teaches children and their parents about responsible pet ownership in a gentle, loving way through storytelling, warmth, and simple truths. My hope is that by reaching young readers early, we can help shape a future where fewer animals are abandoned, fewer shelters are overwhelmed, and fewer people like me are left trying to pick up the pieces. If this book can spark empathy, understanding, and thoughtful choices within families, then every word written has already found its purpose.
For 20 years, I’ve served as a Registered Nurse, with most of those years dedicated to Labor and Delivery. It’s a place where life begins, where emotions run deep, and where compassion is not just appreciated—it’s essential. Helping families welcome their newborns into the world taught me empathy, patience, and the tremendous responsibility of caring for a vulnerable life. Those same values guide my writing and my mission as an advocate for animals.
In 2012, I was honored with the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses at St. Agnes Medical Center in Fresno, California. It was more than an award—it was a reminder that compassion truly matters. Whether I’m comforting a new mother, supporting an anxious family, or taking in a frightened animal who just needs a safe place to land, I carry that belief with me: every act of kindness creates a ripple that reaches far beyond the moment.
My mission as an author is to create stories that open hearts, spark compassion, and inspire families to think more deeply about the commitments they make—especially when those commitments involve another living soul. I want my work to be a gentle guide for children and parents, helping them understand the beauty, responsibility, and lifelong joy that come with welcoming a pet into their home. Through every page, I hope to plant seeds of empathy that grow into habits of kindness and thoughtful decision-making.
More than anything, I want my writing to make a real, lasting difference—one that stretches far beyond the book itself. If my stories help even one family see the value of responsible pet care, or help one child grow into an adult who treats animals with love and respect, then I’ve accomplished exactly what I set out to do. My mission is not just to entertain, but to inspire positive change—creating safer lives for pets, stronger bonds within families, and a more compassionate world for every creature who calls it home.
